Accountant in Toronto.
Personal tax, corporate accounting and bookkeeping for Toronto professionals, freelancers, small business owners and condo investors. Video-first, with in-person meetings on request. Handled directly by a CPA, CA with over 20 years in the profession, not a junior or a call centre.

Your income tax and small business accountant in Toronto.
Toronto is a lot of different tax situations under one name. Financial District professionals with stock options and consulting income on the side. Freelancers and independent contractors across tech, film, design and the trades. Condo investors and small landlords. Owner-operated businesses on the main streets of the east end. What they share is a return with more than one moving part, and the need for someone who actually picks up the phone.
That is the work we do, and your file is handled directly by a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with over 20 years in the profession, not passed to a junior at year-end. We are a Whitby-based accounting firm serving Toronto and the wider Greater Toronto Area, and most Toronto clients work with us by video, with in-person meetings when a year-end or a tax-planning session calls for it. You get clear tax advice on what you can claim in Ontario, whether to incorporate, and how to stay onside with the CRA, without downtown Toronto firm fees.
For our Toronto clients that means the full range of accounting services in one place: personal taxes and personal tax returns, business taxes and corporate tax returns, HST filing, payroll, and monthly bookkeeping with financial reporting. The professional accounting sits alongside real tax advice and tax planning, so you get business accounting and Canadian tax work from the same person, not a filing service. If the CRA opens a review or audit, we handle the correspondence and represent you. Book a free consultation and you'll have a fixed quote before any work starts.
What your Toronto accountant handles for the year.
Personal tax, corporate tax, bookkeeping, payroll and advisory under one roof. One accounting firm, one point of contact, and tax and accounting services that line up across your personal and business returns, from tax return preparation to financial statements and year-round advisory services.
Personal tax (T1)
Personal income tax returns filed correctly, with every credit and deduction you're entitled to, including employment expenses and stock options.
Self-employed & freelance tax
T2125 business income, HST registration and HST filings, home office and equipment, all reported together.
Rental & condo income
Net rental, capital gains on a sale, and the flipping and Underused Housing Tax rules that now catch small landlords.
Corporate tax (T2)
Corporate tax returns for incorporated consultants and businesses, filed on time with next year's tax planning built in.
Monthly bookkeeping
Reconciled to your bank and invoicing every month, with financial statements ready so year-end is a quick close, not a scramble.
Incorporation & comp planning
Whether to incorporate, when, and how to pay yourself. Salary, dividends, or both.
HST & sales tax
HST registration, HST filing and the quick-method election, handled with your bookkeeping so the sales-tax side is never a year-end scramble.
CRA reviews & tax advice
If the CRA sends a review or audit letter, we handle the correspondence and represent you, with practical tax advice and tax planning year-round, not just at tax season.
Where we add the most value.
Four common Toronto client situations, and where our work tends to make the biggest difference.
Financial District professionals with side income
You have a strong T4 plus stock options, RSUs, board fees or consulting income on the side. We coordinate the whole return: employment expenses where they apply, the timing on option and RSU income, RRSP room, and the self-employment piece reported cleanly on its own schedule. One return, optimized end to end.
Freelancers and independent contractors
Toronto's tech, film, media, design and trades run on contract work. We handle the T2125 business income, deal with the HST registration question the moment you cross $30,000, and make sure the home office, equipment, software and vehicle claims hold up. We will also model sole proprietor versus incorporating with your real numbers.
Condo investors and small landlords
Toronto sits on top of one of the largest small-rental markets in the country. We set up the rental schedule so net income is right, treat CCA as a deliberate choice rather than a default, and keep you onside with the residential flipping rule, the Underused Housing Tax and the capital-gains math for the year you sell.
East-end owner-operated businesses
The Danforth, Leslieville, the Beaches, Riverdale and Leaside are the parts of Toronto closest to us. For the main-street shops, studios and service businesses there, we run the corporate T2, HST, payroll and year-round bookkeeping, and you get a nearby accountant instead of a downtown one you never reach.
Three kinds of Toronto clients.
Salaried professionals with side or investment income
Downtown employees with stock options, consulting income, or a condo they rent out. We file the T1 with every layer handled correctly.
Freelancers, consultants and incorporated owners
Toronto's independent contractors and small incorporated businesses. We handle the personal return, the corporate T2, payroll and the year-round bookkeeping.
Investors and small landlords
Condo and small-property owners across the city. We report rental income properly and plan the capital gains long before you sell.

You'll work directly with Elena.
EK CPA Pro is owner-operated. When you call, you're talking to the CPA, CA who's actually doing the work, not a junior who hands the file off at year-end. Elena has been working with owner-operated businesses across Durham Region since 2009, and is a graduate of CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Program.
How meetings work for Toronto clients.
Most Toronto clients work with us entirely by video, with documents shared securely beforehand so the meeting is the conversation, not the paper handoff. Our office is at 70 Taunton Road East in Whitby, about 45 minutes east and closest to the east end of the city, for the year-end or tax-strategy sessions you would rather do in person.

Questions Toronto clients ask first.
Do I need a Toronto office to work with you, and what does it cost?
No. If you're looking for an accountant in Toronto, most of our clients across the GTA work with us by video, and files move securely online. Your first consultation is free. We file personal income tax (T1) and corporate income tax (T2) at a fixed fee quoted before we start. A straightforward personal return is one price; stock options, a rental property, a freelance business or a corporation take longer and cost more, and you get that number up front instead of an hourly surprise. As your tax accountant in Toronto, we run the tax return filing and the full tax service, from tax filing to advisory, and you work with an experienced accounting professional, not a seasonal advisor or a rotating cast of tax professionals. The accounting behind your file meets professional accounting standards.
I'm a freelancer or independent contractor. When do I have to register for HST?
Once your business income crosses $30,000 in any four consecutive quarters, you have to register and start charging HST. Below that it's optional, and sometimes worth doing anyway. We will watch the threshold with you, handle the registration, and set up the tracking so the quarterly or annual filing is a quick job.
I have stock options or RSUs from my Toronto employer. How are they taxed?
Stock options and RSUs are employment income, but the timing and the amount depend on the plan and when you exercise or sell. Getting the year and the cost base right is where people overpay or trip a reassessment. We reconcile the T4 amounts, the brokerage slips and any same-day sales so the return matches what the CRA already sees.
I rent out a condo in Toronto. What changes on my taxes?
You will report rental income and expenses on your T1 from the year you start renting. Net rental income (rent minus mortgage interest, condo fees, property tax, insurance and repairs) is taxed at your marginal rate. We will flag whether to claim CCA, keep you onside with the flipping and Underused Housing Tax rules, and plan the capital gains before you sell, not after.
Should I incorporate my Toronto business?
Usually once the business earns comfortably more than you need to draw personally, because the small business deduction gives Toronto business owners a lower rate on the profit you leave in the company. It also depends on your other income, your spouse's income and your goals. We model incorporating versus staying a sole proprietor with your real numbers, and the corporate tax planning that follows, before you decide.
What accounting and tax services do you offer Toronto clients?
The full set an owner or professional needs: personal income tax returns (T1), corporate tax returns (T2), HST filings, payroll services, monthly bookkeeping, financial statements, incorporation and compensation planning, and year-round tax planning and advisory. As a CPA firm we handle tax preparation, tax compliance and the tax solutions a growing business needs, plus business advisory, financial consulting and support for business growth, and you can outsource the bookkeeping entirely. The Toronto accounting and tax accounting behind your file meet professional accounting standards, and if the CRA opens a review or audit we represent you, so your personal and business tax filings match instead of being stitched together at tax season. Whatever your tax challenges, our CPAs handle them.
How do you bill?
Fixed-fee, quoted up front. You'll know the cost of your T1, any HST filings, the corporate side if you have one and any monthly bookkeeping before we start. No surprise invoices, no hourly billing.
